Cathy Sue Garner, 62, of Carterville, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Services will be held at a later date. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.

Cathy was born May 27, 1958, in Benton, to Andrew “Andy” and Shirley J. (Maurer) Aschieris. She married Steven Lowell Garner on November 24, 1976, in Carterville.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Steve Garner of Carterville; sons, John and Kyle Garner, both of Carterville; and brother, Stephen Aschieris of Marion.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Keith “Donut” Aschieris.

She worked in Andy’s Pastry Shop, alongside her family from 1966-2003.

Cathy enjoyed either being out on Crab Orchard lake or being at the ocean. She also loved to travel and dine out.
