Carolyn Renae Gant

Carolyn Renae Gant, 45, of Elkville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

She was born on June 7, 1979, in DuQuoin, to Candace Faye Pleasant and Fred Joseph Shadowen Jr. Carolyn married Bobby Gene Gant Sr. in June of 1997, in Pinckneyville. Known for her vibrant personality, love for life, and deep connection with both people and animals.

She earned an associate degree in psychology and had a natural talent for connecting with others. Her professional pursuits included being a dedicated Scentsy sales representative and working with Tupperware and Mary Kay, where she built lasting friendships with her clients.

Carolyn has a passion for the outdoors and adventurous activities. She loved fishing, riding her 4-wheeler, and cruising on Harley-Davidson. Her home was always filled with the warmth and joy of her beloved animals, and she was happiest surrounded by family, friends, and the sound of laughter. A true people person, she could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them feeling valued and understood.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Gant Sr.; children, Zoe Gant (Issouf Bougma) and Bobby Gant Jr. (Jalynn Stacy); mother, Candace McHughes; sisters, Francine (Jay) Helton, and Natalie Romero; mother-in-law, Barbara Davis; father-in-law, Raymond Gant; many nieces and nephews; plus her numerous loving pets.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Her kind heart, adventurous spirit, and infectious energy will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Joe Dunmyer officiating. Burial will be in Elkville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
