Brett Alan Baxter, 60, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville. Graveside services will immediately follow at Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville, with Rev. R.H. Chitwood officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Brett was born January 28, 1962, in Herrin, to Jesse Leroy and Harriet Ann (Buckner) Baxter.
He is survived by his life long partner, Tonya Dodson of Carterville; daughters, Brandy (Ted) Walsh of Freeman Spur and Amanda (Billy) Lauderdale of West Frankfort; brother, Jason (Trenida) Baxter of Mason City, Illinois; grandchildren, Caleb Norris, Caitlin Norris, Taylor Norris, Tyler Norris, Brantley Norris, Maddox Walsh, MaKenlee Walsh, Jacob Peterson, Emily Peterson, and Jordan Peterson; great-grandchildren, Paislee Norris, Karson Norris, and Westyn Norris; special cousin, Wade Nelson; numerous extended family including, Kyle Dodson and his daughter, R.K., plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Brett was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Harriet Baxter; sisters, Pamela Harmon and Traci Baxter; and special cousin, Gary Peldo.
He was an avid sports fan and loved to cheer on his beloved Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals.
If you knew Brett, you knew he loved motorcycles, his family, and supporting the military.
Brett was a member of the 2nd Brigade Motorcycle Club.
