Billy Snider Obituary

William N. “Billy Ned” Snider, 83, of St. Peters, Missouri, and formerly of Hurst, Illinois, passed peacefully from this world on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at SSM St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri. He was surrounded by his wife and family.

Bill was born on December 21,1937, to Carl Sidney “Sid” and Catherine Elizabeth (Dixon) Snider. He graduated from Hurst-Bush High School in 1954. Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduating from high school. Upon his return, he worked at various jobs and attended Southern Illinois University. For most of his working years, Bill was a salesman. He always believed strongly that the products or services he sold would benefit his customers, and he was a charmer. One family member accurately quipped, “Dad could sell ice to an Eskimo.” Bill found fulfillment in his work until his health no longer allowed him to travel.

Whether he was working, visiting family, or vacationing, Bill loved to travel. If there was an award given to the person who could drive the longest without stopping, it would go to Bill. He was an avid reader who carried a book or books wherever he went.  He also enjoyed good barbeque, playing cards, shooting pool, his pets, and spending time with his family.  Bill was a good listener and an excellent grandpa! He was a generous man who was willing to share whatever he had with others in need.

Bill was saved as a young boy at the Hurst Baptist Church and later joined the Catholic Church.  He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

Bill is survived by four children from his first marriage to Clementine (Lattuada) Snider - a daughter, Cheryl (Carl) Harris of Marion, Illinois, and sons: Donald Snider of Carterville, Illinois; James (Tara) Snider of Johnston City, Illinois; and Joel (Rebecca) Snider of Herrin, Illinois. One son, Albert Snider, preceded him in death.

Bill married Eva Prichard on April 3, 1985, and was blessed with a bonus family. He is survived by his wife, Eva, of St. Peters, Missouri, and her children Joseph Jr. (Connie) Prichard of Lemoore, California; Michael Prichard of Pensacola, Florida; Deanna (Bob) Chambers of O’Fallon, Missouri; Linda (Tony) Leah of St. Peters, Missouri; and Carolyn (Tim) Harting of St. Peters, Missouri. One son, Jim (Norma) Prichard, preceded him in death.

Bill is also survived by one sister, Suzy (Frank) Stufflebean of Kansas City, Missouri; thirty-five grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl (Reid) and Donald Snider; and one sister, Louanne (Snider) Swafford.

We will miss his love and laughter until we meet again.
