Billy Ray Murray

Billy Ray Murray, 73, of Colp, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Herrin Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carterville, with Bill Harper officiating.

He was born June 6, 1951, in Murphysboro, to Everett E. and Lela I. (Daily) Murray.

Billy is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary (Paul) Winchester; brother, Richard D. Murray; several nieces, nephews and extended family; plus his housemates and Progress Port, Inc. and Progress Management, Inc. staff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Everett, Fred, Ed, Jack L., and Kenneth Murray; and sisters, Linda and Betty Murray, Judy Schmitto, and Brenda Cantrell.

Billy was very patriotic and loved by many.
