Bill Eugene Tapley

Bill Eugene Tapley, 94, of West Frankfort, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021, at Herrin Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 22, 2021, at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy, with reflections by the family. Military rites will be accorded by the Navy Honors Ritual Team, Carterville American Legion Post, and Herrin V.F.W. and American Legion Post.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Bill was born November 21, 1926, in West Frankfort, to Charles Theodore and Antanina (Kalnacki) Tapley. He married Mary Jean Reddy on September 26, 1947, in Zeigler. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2014.

He is survived by his daughters, Jane (Scott) Kinley of Herrin and Barbara Tapley (Pat Fabiano) of Bellingham, Washington; grandchildren, Melissa (Ryan) Farley of Marion and Nicholas Kinley of Freeman Spur; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Avery Farley, and Eliotte Kinley.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Douglas Eugene Tapley.

He honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Bill was an Insurance Salesman with Western-Southern Life Insurance Company serving in Carbondale and Franklin County for over 25 years.
