Betty Jeanne Coleman, 91, of Hurst, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Lavender Ridge Memory Care in Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Greg Parker officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
Betty was born January 24, 1931, in Allendale, Illinois, to Weldon Bert and Faye Arterburn (Gregg) Madden. She married Davy Lee Coleman on April 20, 1952, in Carbondale. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1995.
She is survived by her daughters, Dava (Noel) Galbraith of Opdyke, and Lisa (Raymond) Margenthaler of Tamaroa; son, Dane (Vera) Coleman of Hurst; grandchildren, Drew (Shelly) Taitt, Melisa Moore, Shane (Jim Kavanaugh) Taitt, Christopher Semon, Anthony (Melodi) Coleman, Scott Coleman, Timothy (Erica) Semon, Thomas (Caitlyn) Semon, Stephan Ragsdale, Staci (Shorty) Margenthaler, Mike (Bridget) Margenthaler, Hailey (Doug) Beever, Shala (Dustin) Smith, Peggy Margenthaler; 29 great-grandchildren; 9 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Gregg Madden; son, Lee Scott Coleman; granddaughter, Nikki Coleman; and best friend, Lois Wallace.
Betty was a retail clerk at J.C. Penny in Carbondale for over 21 years.
She was a member of Hurst Christian Church.
Betty enjoyed being outdoors working in her yard and tending to her garden.
