Barbara Ann Escue, 84, of Makanda, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville with services to follow. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Association or to Residential Hospice.
Barbara was born April 2, 1936, in Carbondale, to Ernest and Maxine (Waller) Williams. She married Everett Lee Escue on December 22, 1952, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2018.
She is survived by her children, Sharalyn (Joe) Slivinski of Portland, Oregon, Ernie (Vicki) Escue of Makanda, Kathy Escue (Sally Niemeyer) of Benton, Debbie (Chuck) Richardson of Allen, Texas, Tina (Gary) Eckert of Vincennes, Indiana, and Lonnie (Jill) Escue of Makanda; grandchildren, Scott (Mickellynn) Escue, Stephen (Hang) Escue, Jamie (Fatima) Escue, Jada Escue (Damine), Brittany (DWayne) Nowaskie, Bridget Eckert, Ryan (Christen) Richardson, Emily (Jake) Sanders, Erica Escue (Tyler Staats), and Elissa Escue; great-grandchildren, Maci Escue, Ryan and Jaylynn Escue, Jett Sanders, Ruby Rae Nowaskie, and Luca Richardson; brother-in-law, Paul Escue; nephews, Al (Jeannie) Yancey, Danny Yancey, Tim (Becky) Yancey, and David Yancey (Charlie Kent); and her beloved Cat.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and grandchildren, J.T. Gideon and “Little” Ernie Lee Escue Jr.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her home and family.
Barbara was a member of the Cottage Home Baptist Church and had also attended the Cowboy Church.
She was an avid reader who enjoyed writing in her journal and bird watching.
