Audie Ridgeway Obituary

Audie Hugh Ridgeway, a man of respect and unwavering loyalty to his family, completed his earthly journey on February 9, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on November 9, 1942, in Herrin, Illinois to Elzo Lee and Mary Elizabeth (Arnold) Ridgeway. Audie's life was a testament to his values of honesty, and responsibility, and his dedication to his family. He departed this world leaving behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will be cherished by all who knew him.

At the young age of 18, he chose to serve in the Marine Corps, a decision that exemplified his sense of duty and patriotism. After his honorable service Audie married the love of his life, Patrica, and moved his family to Johnsburg, Illinois, where they were happily married for over 50 years. He worked in McHenry for 32 years and was called the artist, known for his passion and excellence as a fabricator. He dedicated himself to his craft until he retired at the age of 78.

Audie was a man who found beauty in the simple things. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, listening to music, sitting on the back porch, enjoying his dogs, and traveling twice a year to visit family in Southern Illinois.

Throughout his life, Audie's heart belonged to his family. He is survived by his loving sons, Scott (Yvette) Ridgeway, Audie Lee Ridgeway; his only daughter, Audra (Paul) Baca; his cherished grandchildren, Angel Ridgeway and Devin Baca; and his adored great-grandchildren, Landon and Nicolas. His sister, Nila Casey, also remains to honor Audie's memory. Each family member was a precious thread in the tapestry of his life, and he shared his love and wisdom every chance he had.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia: son, Kevin; his parents; and numerous siblings.

Those who knew Audie will remember him as a charismatic man, pulling off jeans and a white arm rolled T-shirt, and Pepsi in hand. His presence at family gatherings was not merely expected but was the cornerstone of togetherness. He was a family man through and through. The legacy of his loving and thoughtful nature will continue to inspire his family for generations to come. His absence will be felt deeply by those who were fortunate enough to experience the warmth of his embrace, the strength of his convictions, and the unwavering support he provided. Audie Hugh Ridgeway was the embodiment of thoughtfulness, kindness and love. As we say farewell to this remarkable man, we do so with gratitude for the time we were given with him and the lessons he taught us.

Audie's life will be celebrated in the memories of those he leaves behind and the impact he made on each life he touched. His story does not end with his passing but continues in the lives of his family and friends, who will carry forward the light of his spirit. Audie Hugh Ridgeway's journey was one of honor, love, and giving to what mattered most—family, friends, and a life well lived.
