Anita Joyce Wiggs, 88, of Carterville, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2021, at North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville, with Rev. Brad Harlow officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church in Carterville.
Joyce was born September 17, 1932, in Carterville, to Henry and Verna (Davis) Coffey. She married Arvel “Don” Wiggs in 1953 in Carterville. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2020.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Jack) Jennings of Herrin, Garry (Sheila) Wiggs of Carterville, and Sandy (Chad) Webb of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Heather (Chuck) Charlet, Jennifer (David) Little, Nicole Wiggs, Nathan Wiggs, Garred Wiggs, Angel (Conar) O’Donnell, Parker (Devon) Simpson, Johnna Michels, Mallory Michels; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; siblings, Lyndell (Mamie) Coffey of Carterville, Dorothy Simpson of Carterville, and Lavern (Dee) Coffey of Phoenix, Arizona; plus nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Eugene Coffey.
She had worked a variety of jobs from serving as a school secretary, to working at United Computer, to being the bookkeeper for Dairy Queen.
Joyce was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Carterville, where she faithfully played the organ for more than 50 years.
