Amber Linn (Geiselman) Howerton, 58, of Carterville, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville. Burial will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family, c/o of Sydney Howerton, to help offset expenses.
Amber was born November 30, 1963, in Murphysboro, to John William and Sarah Jean (Poole) Geiselman.
She is survived by her daughters, Catie (Jason) Jarvis, and Sydney Howerton (Ethan Stennett), all of Carterville; grandchildren, Paityn, Sophie, and Emma Jarvis; sisters, Kelly (David) Conklin, and Sarah Beth (Aaron) Sizemore; parents, John and Sarah Geiselman; nieces and nephews, Dan (Becca) Conklin, Nick (Lori) Conklin, Reagen Conklin, Camille (Zach) Halterman, Cole Sizemore, and Corene Grace Sizemore; great nieces, Sarah Conklin and Blakely Halterman; and many dear friends.
Amber was preceded in death by her spouse, Dave Workman.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Amber had taught Art at both Crab Orchard and Harrisburg schools, as well as teaching art at Bible School for many years.
Amber was a gifted artist in every sense of the word. She channeled her creative talents by making pottery, drawing, painting, making jewelry, crocheting, and costume making.
Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family, especially her daughters and granddaughters. Amber enjoyed cheering on her granddaughters and nephews at their softball and baseball games. She loved playing cards and board games, going fishing, and playing with her granddaughters. Amber was known for making the best breakfasts, enjoying a shopping trip to Hobby Lobby, and checking out a good yard sale. She enjoyed her puppies and had a love of horses.
