Alfred Leon Teal

Alfred Leon Teal, 80, of Carterville, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Herrin Hospital with his family at his side.   

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 19, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville with Pastor Jason McKinnies and Ken Pind officiating.  Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held after 11:00 A.M., Friday at the funeral home.

Alfred was born on July 29, 1941, in Cambria to Jacob and Margie (Foster) Teal.  He married LaDonna Thomas on August 13, 1960, in Marion. 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years LaDonna of Carterville; two sons, Alfred (Jeanene)Teal Jr. of Marion and Jerry Teal of Carterville; daughter, Sherri (Brit) Tanner of Evansville, IN; two sisters, Shirley Couch of Murphysboro and Barbara Carpenter of Carterville;  grandchildren, Jacob (Teri) Teal of Carterville, Joshua (Whitney) Teal of Marion, Amanda (Rod) Sills of Evansville, IN, Christopher Tanner of Evansville, IN, Aaron Teal of Carterville, Brandon (Kayla) Teal of Camp Pendleton, CA, Jon (Stephanie) Teal of Carterville, Haley (Cory) Brinkley of Carterville; great grandchildren, Judah Teal, Ziva Teal, Preston Teal, Paxton Teal, Isaac Sills, Kaleb Sills, Phoebe Sills, Rosie Teal, Elijah Teal, Matthew Teal, Koda Teal, Jace Brinkley, Jaxton Brinkley, and Jameson Brinkley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Tracy Teal; brother, Jimmy Bostain; sister, Jennie Bostain.

Alfred worked as a mechanic for over 37 years, working at Grubbs Automotive and Epp’s Motors dealership in Carbondale most of the time and he worked for himself.

He was a member of the Southern Illinois Worship Center in Herrin.

Alfred was a member of the Blue Herron in Carterville and enjoyed fishing but most important thing in his life was his family.
