Adeline (Toigo) Walker

Adeline Walker, 92, of Herrin, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with reflections by her family. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.  Private family burial will be at Herrin City Cemetery.

Adeline was born on October 4, 1932, in Christopher, to John and Antonia (Andrighetti) Toigo. She married Denzil R. Walker on November 13, 1964, in Marion. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2005. 
 

She is survived by her daughter, Delina (Peter) Nugent; granddaughters, Claudia and Lauren Nugent; sister, Lorena Rea; special nephew, Jim (Valrey) Rea; sister-in-law, Tillie Toigo; plus many nieces and nephews. 
Adeline was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mary Fusinati, Angelina Loiacono, and Josephine Rea; and brothers, Isacco, Louis, John, Anthony, and Joe Toigo. 
 

She graduated from Christopher High School in 1950. Adeline spent more than 25 years working as a secretary for Southern Illinois Wholesale, retiring in 1997.
 

She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Herrin. An avid golfer, Adeline was a member of the Crab Orchard Golf Course in Carterville and the Ladies’ Golf Association. She especially enjoyed spending time on the course and relaxing with a good book. 
 

Adeline was also a proud and devoted supporter of her daughter, Delina. She was always in the stands, cheering her on, and rarely missed a game over the years.
