Wendell "Hap" L. Green

Wendell "Hap"  Laverne Green, 83, of Herrin, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019, at his home.

He was born on April 18, 1936,  in Herrin, to Estes H. Green and Inez (Rone) Green Jacques.

Hap leaves behind to mourn his passing, long time friend and care giver, Jim Shadowens; cousins, Dennis Rone of Herrin, Linda (Lane) Hedges of Valparaiso, Indiana and Keith Lane of Crown Point, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Lyndall (Rone) Lane, uncles, Raymond Rone, Glenn Rone, Clarence Rone; cousins, Gordon Lane, Zola Fanning and Nancy Sampson.

There will be no services and his ashes will be inurned at Herrin City Cemetery at a later date next to his mother; maternal grandmother, Katie (Mount) Rone Broadway and his aunt, Ruby Rone. 

Although not a veteran, he was a familiar face at military funerals as part of the color guard for many years. Hap was also a lifetime member of the Sons of the American Legion.
