Virginia L. (Fozard) Arnold

Carterville - Virginia L. Arnold, 98, of Carterville, passed Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Desert Haven Adult Care Center in Tucson, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Michael Williams officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Carterville Vision Fund.

Virginia was born on January 16, 1920, in Carterville, to William and Nola (McMillan) Fozard. She married Claude L. Arnold on September 1, 1938, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1973.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Janet) Arnold of Tucson, Arizona; grandson, Stephen (Kathy) Arnold of Santa Cruz, California; granddaughter, Kristen (Randy) Mickel of Shelby Township, Michigan; great-grandson, Raymond Cramer of Santa Cruz, California.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert Fozard; and sisters, Mae Noakes and Dorothy Priddy.

She worked with the mentally ill for 18 years-6 years in Lincoln and 12 years in Union Grove, Wisconsin. Virginia retired in 1979, from Herrin Hospital as a Nurses Aide.
