Scott Wiggs, 53, of Carterville, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Jeff Wiggs and Jeff Alstat officiating. Burial will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will begin after 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Cambria Christian Church Youth Ministries.
Scott was born October 6, 1966, in Herrin, to William Earl and Mary Jane (Watkins) Wiggs. He married Suzette Michelle DuFrain on September 15, 1995, in Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Suzette Wiggs of Carterville; daughters, Dakota and Brookelyn Wiggs, both of Carterville; parents; Bill and Mary Jane Wiggs of Crainville; brothers, Brad (Charlene) Wiggs of Lynchburg, Virginia and Jeff (Chrissy) Wiggs of Crainville; sister, Julie (Greg) Giracs of Carterville; in-laws, Larry (Wanda) DuFrain of Benton; sister-in-law, Elyse (Raymond) Strebel of Alton; several nieces, nephews and cousins; beloved dogs, Aspen and Grizzly; and a host of friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents.
In 2018, Scott retired as a Lieutenant from Dixon Springs Boot Camp. He also worked at Vienna Correctional Center for 18 years.
He was a member of the Cambria Christian Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and was active in the Men's Group.
Scott was an active person who liked to work out, go golfing, and coach his daughter's soccer team. He loved to take trips to the beach.
His everyday presence will be immensely missed.
