Leona Rae Rich, 80, of Crainville, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from Helia Healthcare in Energy, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Crainville Baptist Church with Pastor Cody Knapik officiating. Burial will be in North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Crainville Baptist Church.
Rae was born October 24, 1938, in Carbondale, to Elijah Leoran and Sara Elizabeth (McEwen) Hindman. She was united in marriage on September 28, 1957, in Carterville, to Clarence "Jack" Rich. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1999.
Left to mourn her passing include her son, Steve (Debbie) Rich of Carterville; grandsons, Dylan (Devanni) Kitchen of Metropolis and Jackson E. Rich of Carterville; sister, Ludene Cox of Carterville; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack (Sue) Ridley and Sally Rich, all of Carterville; nieces and nephews, Julie Cox, Jay Cox, Sue Ellen Rich, and John Rich; special friend, Gary Fozzard of Crainville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Rich; and brothers-in-law, Sam Rich and Jim Cox.
She began her Christian journey at the First Presbyterian Church in Carterville, later uniting with Crainville Baptist Church. Rae was a fifty-year member of Crainville Baptist Church, where she actively served on various committees over the years.
