Mary Ellen Tripp, 65, of Benton formerly of Carterville, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Michael Williams officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Chance Animal Rescue of Franklin County.
Mary was born on February 27, 1953, in Carbondale, to Corum Fern and Eliza Ellen (Roberts) Short.
She is survived by her daughter, Christy (Jack) McCollom of Orion, Illinois; grandchildren, Emma McCollom and Jacob McCollom; brother, Jack (Janice) Short of Herrin; sister, Jean Patrick of Goreville; sister-in-law, Phyllis Short of Carterville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William "Willie" Tripp; brother, P.D. Short; and sister, Dorothy Conekin.
