Mae Ellen Maxwell 68, of De Soto, passed away November 18, 2019, at Herrin Hospital.

A Memorial service hosted by her family will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2019, at DeSoto First Baptist Church, 301 North Hickory Street, with Pastor Daryl Williams officiating.

Ellen was born January 3, 1951, to Jack and Velma Lorene Maxwell,  in Terre Haute, Indiana.   Ellen lived in Martinsville, Illinois with her family until 1977 when she moved to De Soto.

Ellen graduated nursing school at Lake Land College in Mattoon. She later attended John A. Logan College for Child Psychology. 

She loved to plant flowers, butterflies, collectibles, and jewelry. She had lot of pets over the years, and she was always feeding the wildlife at her home on the lake.  She loved to read many different books, and always loved the spiritual mysteries that the world had to offer. She believed herself to be a gypsy and a free spirit. Ellen even had an authentic crystal ball. She rarely saw the bad in people, and always made every attempt to give people a chance. She enjoyed spending time with all of her children and grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by her brothers, Larry Maxwell, Jim Maxwell, Bill Maxwell, and Robert Lee Maxwell; sons, Quentin Lashbrook, Sean Lashbrook, Jason Lashbrook, and Kenny Reynolds; grandchildren, Jonathan Lashbrook, Joshua Lashbrook, Melina Lashbrook, Quentin Lee Lasbrook, Lane Lashbrook, Tessa Lashbrook, Gina Lashbrook, Austin Lashbrook, Morgan Lashbrook, and Mark Provo; great-grandson, Paxton Lashbrook; great-granddaughter, Faith Lee Lashbrook. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Velma Maxwell and her life partner, Gary Bowling.

Ellen  will  be dearly and sincerely missed by all of her family and friends.
