Mable Ruth Olund, 101, of Carterville, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Carterville, with Pastor Mel Bower Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville, with military rites by the Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 822 West Grand Avenue, Carterville, Illinois 62918.
Mable was born on October 21, 1916, in Carterville to George and Edna (Tyner) Tregoning. She married David Frank Olund on April 27, 1957, in Skokie, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1975.
She is survived by her sisters, Joie Elting of Carterville and Mary Cole of Stafford, Virginia; many dear nieces and nephews; and several treasured friends.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Margaret Martin, Helen Storme, and Nadine Isbell; brothers, Sam, Siebert, Frank, Tom, and Bob Tregoning; and nephews, Tag Anderson, Robert Cole and Frank Tregoning.
She honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII where she served as a medic.
Mable was the manager for the Nautical Inn in Skokie and a Walgreens in Chicago. Later, Mable moved back to Carterville where she became the owner and operator of the Pin Oak Motel.
She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carterville and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.
In her earlier years, Mable was quite athletic and played softball for the Army and "Runt" Bishop Teams.
She enjoyed knitting and painting.
