Kimberly Sue Ellen "Kim" Childress, 55, of Herrin, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Herrin Hospital.

She was born June 22, 1964, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Gus LaVerne and Sue Ellen (Smothers) Johnson. She married Steven Wayne Childress on September 8, 1987, in Paducah, Kentucky.

Kim is survived by her husband of 35 years, Steven Childress of Herrin; daughters, Stephanie Beck of North Carolina, Michelle Johnson of Cambria, Crystal Johnson of Carbondale, Maria Childress of Texas, Sara Childress of Herrin, and Angie Childress of Herrin; son, Josh Childress of Cambria; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Michael; brother, Richard Johnson; sister, Selena Arnold; and granddaughter, Amara Simpson.

Kim was a homemaker whose passion was her children and family in which she dedicated her life to.

She liked to go to yard sales, shopping, and cooking.
