John "Jack" Herbert Russell Weeks, 84, of Carterville, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018, at Helia Health Care in Energy.
A celebration of Jack's life, hosted by his family, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Carterville. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Ministry Fund or Christmas Dinner Fund at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Carterville or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
Jack was born on December 25, 1933, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Henry Norman Russell and Lula Helen Mildred (Hamel) Weeks. He married Joanne Mae Lambert on February 5, 1972, in Wickliffe, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joanne Weeks of Carterville; daughters, Kathy (Mike) Zuber of O'Fallon, Jenny (John) Akers of Crainville and Susan (Josh) Matteson of Anaheim, California; grandchildren, John (Nikki) Zuber, Elizabeth Zuber, Cristian Akers, Gia Akers, Joel Akers; great-grandson, Ethen Zuber; brother, Alan Weeks; and sister, Diane Hamill.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Sandra Weeks.
He had also worked as a photo engraver for several newspapers and magazine companies over the years.
Jack's true passion was baking, specifically cheesecakes. "Jack's Cheesecakes" could be found at IGA in Carterville and showcased his talent for baking.
Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville assisted the family with cremation services.
