Jean A. Wories entered into the joy of His presence, Sunday, July 22, 2018, at home surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Carterville with Rev. Alan Rhein officiating.  Burial will be in Zion Church Cemetery in rural Carbondale.  Visitation will be held after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Jean was born January 23, 1945 to Rev. Earl and Juanita Dickey.  She married Peter J. Wories on December 30, 1990 in Carterville.

She is survived by her husband Peter Wories of Carbondale; her children, Kevin (Roby) McCamish of Carterville, Megan (Chad) Harmon of Carterville, Rebecca Renfroe of Carbondale, Adam Wories of Carterville, and  Rachelle (Brandon) Ridgeway of DuQuoin.  Jean enjoyed the love of ten grandchildren, Kaleb McCamish, Paige McCamish, Mikenzie Minnick, Colby Sue Harmon, Stevie McCamish, Ryleigh Ridgeway, Corbin Harmon, Wiley Renfroe, Annalee Renfroe, and Ty Ridgeway; sister, Sue Dickey (Tom Pollard) of Alameda, CA; brother, Lee (Dana) Dickey of Redding, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Steve Renfroe.

Jean was a retired school teacher and librarian at Crab Orchard CUSD # 3. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carterville, where she served  for many years as their organist. 

Jean will be fondly remembered for her winning smile and loving heart.
