Jane Carole (Sherrells) Crabb

Jane Carole (Sherrells) Crabb, 79, of Crainville, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, with her family by her side.

Private family services will be held with burial in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville.  

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Jane was born May 5, 1939, in Pope County, Illinois, to  Collie and Lexie L. (Layman) Sherrells. She married James Vernon Crabb on March 14, 1959, in Shawneetown. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2003.

She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Darrell) McDannel of Crainville, Dodie (Steve) Lively of Crainville, Susan (Mike) Wetherington of Carterville; sons, Timothy (Javona) Crabb of Baytown, Texas, James "Jim" (Tonya) Crabb Jr. of Marion, and Stephen Crabb of Springfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Jett Jordan of Baytown, Texas, Portia Fore of Crainville, Beth-Ann (Mike) Medici of Avon, Indiana, Abby (Shannon) Lane of Carterville, Lindsey Baldi of Carterville, James (Austin) Crabb III of Carterville, Brittny Crabb of Herrin, Collen Crabb of Indianapolis, Gracie Wetherington and Faith Wetherington, both of Carterville; great-grandchildren, Ryder Fore, Miles Medici, Beckham Medici, Raelyn Medici, Deacon Lane, Corbin Lane, Aubrey Baldi, Reid Baldi, and Killian James Crabb; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin sister, Jean Presser; and brother, Charles Sherrells.

She worked at American Magnetics and Blue Cross - Blue Shield.

Family meant the world to Jane. She devoted her life to taking care of her family and grandchildren.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed preparing meals for her family, making crafts and decorating. Jane also loved to watch old Turner Classic movies.
