Gary Bowling Obituary

De Soto

Gary Eugene Bowling, 69, of De Soto, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019, at his home.

A memorial service hosted by his family will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2019, at De Soto First Baptist Church, 301 North Hickory Street, with Pastor Josh Wehrmeier officiating.

Gary was born on April 1, 1950, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Frederick and Mabel Bowling Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Abigail Lynn Bowling of Aurora, Colorado; life partner, Ellen Maxwell of De Soto; Quentin Lashbrook and his family, Sean Lashbrook and his family, and Jason Lashbrook and his family, all of De Soto.

Gary was preceded in death by his son, Chad Bowling.

He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army from 1970 -1972.

Gary worked at Jake's Tire in Marion and was the owner of Saluki Truck and Auto in Carbondale.

He loved to go fishing, hunting or just about anything that involved the outdoors.  He was always helping someone with fixing their mower or showing someone how to repair a car.  He also had a working moonshine still that he thoroughly enjoyed.  Gary enjoyed spending time with all of his grandkids when they came to visit. He will be greatly missed by everyone he knew. If Gary liked you, you knew it. And if he didn't like you, you wouldn't need to guess about it.

Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville assisted the family with cremation services.
