Frank Vernell Hardcastle

Herrin - Frank Vernell Hardcastle, 79, of Herrin, passed Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Herrin Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2018, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will begin at noon, Friday, with Masonic rites conducted at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children-St. Louis or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Frank was born September 23, 1938, in Carterville, to Frank Angelo and Opal Pauline (Gentry) Hardcastle II. He married Vera Helen Boyd on June 23, 1960, in Carterville, and together they had shared 57 years. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2017.

He is survived by daughter, Tracy Johnson of Herrin; sons, Frank A. (Jamie) Hardcastle III of Carterville and Brad (Mickey) Hardcastle of Fairhope, Alabama; grandchildren, Nicholas (Amy) Hardcastle, Jesse Jordan, Dustin Hardcastle, Dimitri (Jessica) Johnson, and Haley Johnson; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Lilly Jordan, and Carcyn and Grace Bloodworth; brother-in-law, Colin Boyd of Lexington, Kentucky; and special family friends, Cindy (Jim) Cole of Herrin.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and grandsons, Zachary Hardcastle and Jaxson Keeling.

He was as a real property specialist for the city of Anaheim, GTE, AMAX, and Consolidated Coal companies.

Frank was a member of Masonic Lodge #802.

He was a car enthusiast who also enjoyed fishing and going out to eat where he loved trying different kinds of food.
