Floyd "Doodlebug" "Red" Ray Bailey, 81, of Cambria, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019, at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2019, at Blairsville Cemetery, with Brother Jim Stone officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Floyd was born on April 22, 1937, in Hurst, to William and Edna (Short) Bailey. He married Carolyn Sue Wagoner on November 20, 1956, in Herrin.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Bailey of Johnston City; son, Mike (Therese) Bailey of Cambria; siblings, Betty (Noel Gene) Loyd of Vienna, Virginia (Frank) Mezo of Herrin, Edna Mae (Jerry) Wollenweber of Oswego, Mary Ann Waldron of Herrin, JoAnn (Fred) Walker of Oswego, Kenny (Diane) Bailey of Cambria; grandchildren, Ryan (Lisa Williams) Judd, Tyler (Sara Glasser) Bailey, Anna (Garrett) Hastings, Daniel (Candice) Kern, and Emily (Josh Johnson) Kern; 6 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Mike Kerly of Christopher, Bud (Wilma) Wagoner of Valier, sisters-in-law, Cindy Bailey of Cambria, Sue Bailey of Herrin, Dianne Skilbeck of Springfield, and Cindy (Mike) Flatt of Mulkeytown.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Scott Allen Bailey; brothers, Jackie Ray, William "Bill", Bobby, David, and Donald; sister, Martha Barnett; sister-in-law, Vicky Kerly; and brother-in-law, Herbert Wagoner.
He enjoyed raising Brittany Bird Dogs. Floyd never met a stranger and liked to "shoot the bull" with friends at Carterville DQ and the Burger Nook in Herrin.
Floyd worked as a cement finisher for many years.
