Carl Richard Spinks

Carl Richard Spinks, 90, of Herrin, died Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville, with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating.  Military rites will be performed by the Carterville American Legion, Herrin V.F.W. and American Legion, and Army National Guard Ritual Team.

Carl was born on February 20, 1929, in Carbondale, to Carl and Juanita (Childers) Spinks.  He married Reba Imergean Russell on December 20, 1957, in Carterville.  She preceded him in death on October 24, 2016. 

He is survived by his sons, Richard (fiancée, Margarita Sprauge) Spinks of Carterville, Randall Spinks of Herrin, and Russell "Rusty" (Tammy) Spinks of Carterville; grandchildren, Kayeleigh Hawley, Britney Spinks, Nathan (fiancée, Makenzie) Spinks, Richard Spinks Jr., and Crystal Flora; great-grandchildren, Jaden Spinks, Edward Hawley, Emmalynn Hawley, Harper Epperley, Cheyann Flora, and Cally Flora.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Betty Brazitis; brothers, Billie Gean (Janie) Spinks and Robert Spinks. 

He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Herrin V.F.W. and American Legion and Carterville American Legion.

Carl was the Maintenance Engineer for Goss Properties over ten years.
