Herrin
Candace Lynn Wilkins, 61, of Herrin, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Cambria Christian Church, with Pastor Jeff Wiggs officiating. Inurnment will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cambria Christian Church or to the Foundation at Barnes Jewish Hospital for Barnes Lodge (provides lodging to Siteman Center families).
Candy was born on September 5, 1956, in Carbondale, to Derril Eugene and Alice Jolene (Tyner) Masters.
She is survived by her children, Jamie “Nikki” (Tyler) Pedigo of Herrin and Timothy (April) Wilkins of Johnston City; sisters, Cathi (John) Roth of Johnston City and Melissa Masters of Miami, Florida; brother, Brent (Diane) Masters of Carterville; grandchildren, Avery and Jase Pedigo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Candy was preceded in death by her brother, Derril Lee Masters.
She worked on the dryer line at Maytag for more than 20 years. After Maytag closed, Candy continued her education and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She worked for SIRS and Lutheran Social Services. Candy also volunteered at the Women’s Center.
Candy attended Cambria Christian Church.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Candy loved to watch the Sci-fi channel and go shopping with her mom.
