Brian Todd Stearns

Brian Todd Stearns, 31, of Carbondale, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2019, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Bob Wynn officiating. Military rites will be performed immediately following the service. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to an Educational Fund for his children.

Brian married Katrina Swan on April 13, 2018, in Edenton, North Carolina.  

He is survived by his wife, Katrina Stearns of  Carbondale; children, Jocelynn Stearns, William Stearns, Beau Stearns, and Lucian Ionescu; mother, Lisa (Craig) Donna of Marion; father, Mark Stearns of Carterville; siblings, Scott Stearns of Suffolk, Virginia, Bradley Donna of Marion, Sam Stearns of Carterville, Olivia Stearns of Carterville, Broque (Brian) Weinstein of Chicago, and Charlie Donna of Chicago; and grandparents, Charles R. Loftis of Carterville and Ken (Kay) Stearns of Crainville.

Brian was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Geraldine Loftis and cousin, Ryan Loftis.

He honorably served our country in the United States Navy as a Corpsman overseas in Afghanistan where he was awarded numerous medals and honors.

Brian was a Bio-Medical Technician at the V.A. in Marion.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and kayaking.  Brian liked to tinker with things and could fix anything.
