Sue Talley

Sue Talley, 93, of Carterville, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Herrin Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. Brad Harlow officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church and the Carterville High School Boy's and Girl's Golf Teams. Sue was born on March 7, 1924, in Carterville, to Ray and Geneva Ruth (Turton) McCluskey. She married Harold "H.T." Talley on December 23, 1941, in Carterville. He preceded her in death July 5, 2004. She is survived her loving son, Randy and Marsha Talley of Carterville; granddaughters, Tracey Talley of Woodridge, Virginia and Karen (Luis) Nuño of Sharpsburg, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Alicia and Nick Nuño. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Ray McCluskey Jr.; and sister-in-law, Wanda McCluskey. She was a clerk at the Rushing 5 & 10 in Carterville for 15 years. Sue was a devout 90 year member of the First Baptist Church in Carterville where she served as a nursery teacher for more than 20 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and belonged to Canasta and Pinochle Clubs. Sue and H.T. had a love of square dancing, leading them to become charter members at Fred's Dance Barn.
